Alan E. Wittmer, 69, of Alan was a veteran of the United States Army, where he attained the rank of sergeant and was an expert marksman. He retired from Whirlpool Corporation after 35 years. Alan attended Alan was a member of Nativity Catholic Church. He enjoyed his pets, as well as all animals. He also enjoyed target shooting, swimming, playing baseball, working on cars with his children and spending Sunday afternoons with his family, whom he loved. Alan is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carol Wittmer of Newburgh; sons, Alan E. Wittmer Jr. and his wife, Vicki of Evansville and John W. Wittmer and his wife, Tracey of Chandler, Ind.; daughters, Christine Marie Wittmer-Moore and her husband, Kevin of Evansville and Angela Wildeman and her husband, Kevin of St. Phillips, Ind.; 11 grandchildren, Erika Qualls, Katherine and Madeline Moore, Eric, Megan and Adam Wildeman, Mallory and Emily Wittmer, Mackenzie Curtis, and Alyssa and Haley Wittmer; and his sister, Betty Hayden of Evansville. Alan was preceded in death by his parents, William and Esther (Ottman) Wittmer; and his brother, William Wittmer. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 19, at Nativity Catholic Church, Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, August 18, with a 2 p.m. memorial service at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, |
